Our Process
Understanding the space
We familiarized ourselves with the current platform and spoke with School Loop employees about the concerns they’d heard from their customers and did competitive audit of similar products. We also educated ourselves about the changes taking place in the larger education landscape. For example, what is the Common Core? What does it aim to do?
Research
We conducted extensive primary ethnographic research in Bay Area schools, talking to teachers across grade levels, experience levels, and subject matter. We dove into how they plan for their workload, their hopes and dreams, key frustrations, how they plan for their workload, and how they tackle different student learning models. We asked about how the new Common Core requirements changed the mechanics of teaching. We examined the physical artefacts that shape their experiences such as their grading books, worksheets and assignments, their classroom rules.
Synthesis
We synthesized our research into key pain points and opportunities in teachers’ evaulation and grading journeys, highlighting which of these criteria SchoolLoop could address through their platform.
Design
Using these insights, we provided detailed-wireframes, introducing new features and updating existing ones.
